Key Benefits«AQUALAT» anthracite filter media is an effective water filtration media of one - or multi-layer grain open and closed filters. The high natural porosity of anthracite, used as raw material in the production (36% porosity is a feature of the morphological structure of «AQUALAT» anthracite ), allows to produce filter media with increased hydrodynamic characteristics. As a consequence, «AQUALAT» is 1, 5-2 times more efficient than conventional anthracite filters, porosity of which does not exceed 10-15%. Contaminant capacity of «AQUALAT» is significantly (up to 4 times) higher compared with equivalent-sized sand media, which increases the productivity of water treatment plants, reduces water consumption for backwashing (1,5 times in comparison with sand filter media), and provides cost savings as a whole. By cleaning up the water from the turbidity and color the injected dose of coagulant and flocculant is reduced by 15-20%. The use of «AQUALAT» anthracite filter media in industrial water treatment cycles can sharply reduce the contaminant capacity of ion exchange resins and, thus, increase their life circle. In this case removal of suspended particles from the water decreases working pressure of filtration, and extraction of organic compounds (e.g. petroleum products) greatly improves the performance of resins, reducing ion-exchange capacity of the «poisoning» non-polar substances. A distinctive feature of «AQUALAT» filter media is its low ash content (up to 5%) and low sulfur content (up to 1%). An important indicator of usability of anthracite as a filter material is its ability to cleave into grains of isometric shape (spherical or cubic) during the fragmentation. This is due to the fact that a large amount of grains of flattened shape reduces intergranular porosity, reduces the hydrodynamic characteristics of the filtering layer, and thus degrade the quality of filtering greatly. To provide the necessary conditions for filtration the content of such grains in the filter media should not exceed 15%. Grains of the cube or spherical form, as well as rectangular, and various types of pyramids and prisms characterized by technological coefficients 1,8 and 1,47 heterogeneity are predominant in the «AQUALAT» filter media. Uniformity of grains sizes and shapes provide evenness and a large amount of intergranular space. There are little flattened and needle grains, which eliminate the «windage» of grains and their removal during regeneration period. The contact of the «AQUALAT» particles with filtering water does not result in significant increase of the concentration of silicic acid, oxidation, and the solid residue, which indicates the chemical resistance of the product. Thanks to higher rates of mechanical strength (wearability and grindability), lower intensity and duration of backwashing of the filter material does not destruct during the restoring of its chacteristics, and there is also no cementation of individual zones of filter media. The unquestionable advantages of «AQUALAT» filter media:
The application of «AQUALAT» filter media allows to reduce capital costs through the use of smaller chamber volume filters, smaller in power pump-powerful aggregates of smaller diameters and reduction of the volume of buildings while designing and building new treatment plants and filters. It is also necessary to keep in mind that the life circle of «AQUALAT» filter media is two times higher than that of quartz sand, and the amount of annual filling-in in is significantly lower. |
